The best way to explore Ephesus is by taking a leisurely stroll through the well-preserved ancient city, immersing yourself in its captivating history and remarkable architectural wonders. Start your journey at the main entrance, where you'll be greeted by the iconic Celsus Library and the grand theater. As you navigate the marble-paved streets, be sure to explore the Temple of Artemis, the Terrace Houses, and the Roman Agora, all of which offer fascinating insights into daily life during the Roman era. While walking through the ruins, take your time to admire the intricate details, impressive columns, and stunning mosaics that showcase the city's former glory.  

One of the main highlights of Ephesus is the magnificent Library of Celsus, a grand structure that stands as a testament to the city's intellectual and artistic achievements. The vast theater, with its impressive capacity of 25,000 spectators, evokes the grandeur of ancient performances. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is another awe-inspiring sight that reflects the city's religious significance.

The nearby Terrace Houses, also known as the "Houses of the Rich," provide a glimpse into the opulent lifestyles of the wealthy Ephesians, showcasing intricate frescoes and well-preserved architectural features.

When selecting a place to stay, it is all about location. We chose the tiny town of Selcuk. However, here a few other options as well.

To be honest, every single place we ate, the food was fantastic. Here are two  places you should consider, when visiting the historic Ephesus. 

Ejder Restaurant: Located near Ephesus, Ejder Restaurant is a popular dining spot known for its delicious Turkish cuisine and warm hospitality. The favorite dish on the menu here is the Iskender Kebab. This mouthwatering dish consists of tender slices of lamb or beef served over a bed of pita bread, topped with a rich tomato sauce and drizzled with melted butter and yogurt. The combination of flavors and textures in the Iskender Kebab creates a truly satisfying and indulgent experience.

Ejder Tatlıları: Adjacent to Ejder Restaurant, Ejder Tatlıları is a delightful dessert place where you can indulge in traditional Turkish sweets. One of their standout offerings is the Baklava, a classic dessert made with layers of flaky pastry filled with a sweet and nutty mixture, typically featuring pistachios or walnuts. The Baklava at Ejder Tatlıları is renowned for its delicate layers and perfect balance of sweetness, making it a heavenly treat to savor after a meal.
