Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located about 176 kilometers north of Kampala, is a vital conservation area dedicated to reintroducing rhinoceroses to Uganda. This sanctuary is the only place in the country where visitors can see rhinos in their natural habitat. Established in 2005, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary covers approximately 70 square kilometers and provides a safe haven for the endangered southern white rhino. The lodge's cottages were nestled amidst lush gardens, providing a serene retreat after days filled with safari adventures. We enjoyed relaxing on our private veranda, taking in the sights and sounds of the surrounding savannah, which added to the magical ambiance of our first night. The meals served at the lodge were not only fresh but also delicious, showcasing local flavors and ingredients. Dining under the African sky and hearing the distant calls of wildlife completed our unforgettable experience at Fort Murchison Lodge, making it a highlight of our journey through Uganda's magnificent wilderness.
